It was so interesting getting to know how Rafa was shaped to become such a legend in tennis。 I didn't realize that his foot problems began more than 10 years ago。 Quite incredible that despite this, he reached the heights that he did。 Unfortunately the book doesn't cover the last 10 years or so as his story has still not come to an end。 It was so interesting getting to know how Rafa was shaped to become such a legend in tennis。 I didn't realize that his foot problems began more than 10 years ago。 Quite incredible that despite this, he reached the heights that he did。 Unfortunately the book doesn't cover the last 10 years or so as his story has still not come to an end。 。。。more

Rafael Nadal is one of my favourite people in the world and, thankfully (unlike some memoirs), this book didn't change my mind。 With refreshing honesty and humility (and a fair share of just plain sweetness), Rafael takes you through the journey of tennis and his life balancing it and everything else。 This book was so endearing and enjoyable to read!!My only complaints are that I really kind of whipped through the chapters written by Carlin。 Nothing against him, but they definitely broke the flo Rafael Nadal is one of my favourite people in the world and, thankfully (unlike some memoirs), this book didn't change my mind。 With refreshing honesty and humility (and a fair share of just plain sweetness), Rafael takes you through the journey of tennis and his life balancing it and everything else。 This book was so endearing and enjoyable to read!!My only complaints are that I really kind of whipped through the chapters written by Carlin。 Nothing against him, but they definitely broke the flow of the book and felt like more of a hassle than an extra。 Secondly。。。 not really against the book, but rather, against Nadal's sphere of influence。 There were some people in his family that just。。。 really, really annoyed me。 But you can't really change that, so here we are。A fabulous book from a fabulous player。 Highly recommended!! 。。。more

Interesting。 Incredibly repetitive about closeness of family and team

Amazing read for a tennis nerdThe indepth analysis of his own game , his life and how he approaches sport in itself。 The way he stay humble and grounded after being the best athelete ever。

This was a wonderful insight into the culture behind the great tennis player。 Nadal comes across as incredible humble throughout the book and I would say some elements of his childhood and training took me aback。 I liked the format, the autobiographical segments sliced with more contextual chapters including quotes from relatives and friends and background。 Initially I enjoyed the elements harking back to tennis matches but after a while I just wanted to get back to biography。 It is hard picturi This was a wonderful insight into the culture behind the great tennis player。 Nadal comes across as incredible humble throughout the book and I would say some elements of his childhood and training took me aback。 I liked the format, the autobiographical segments sliced with more contextual chapters including quotes from relatives and friends and background。 Initially I enjoyed the elements harking back to tennis matches but after a while I just wanted to get back to biography。 It is hard picturing a tennis match by words, and it didn't hold tension because I knew the outcomes, so felt a bit repetitive。 But otherwise a good autobiography。 Can't wait for the next one。。。 。。。more

Book was very interesting, having both Rafa’s point of view and the external narrator telling complimentary parts of his story。 The chosen narrators though almost ruined the book。 Bernardo’s English is rough, full of bad pronunciations。 Nicholas mispronouncing Nadal’s last name throughout the entire book is just ridiculous。

I had red this book because I'm a fan of Rafael Nadal。 I enjoyed reading this book because I learned more about Rafael's family, his childhood, his tennis career, and his life in Mallorca, Spain。 I loved Rafael's honesty and candor。 It is a must read。 I had red this book because I'm a fan of Rafael Nadal。 I enjoyed reading this book because I learned more about Rafael's family, his childhood, his tennis career, and his life in Mallorca, Spain。 I loved Rafael's honesty and candor。 It is a must read。 。。。more

This book describes the life and success of nadal in parallel with his own narrative of two of his biggest wins。The narrative goes around Nadal’s family and how does they influence his performance an life, I really shared and pursue that “family core structure” so I find it a lot of bridges with the history and I really love that。I think this book its a good piece for anyone that likes to read biographies and has some catholic culture background。

After watching Nadal lift the 2022 Australian Open, I was more curious as to what makes this machine keeps going and this book that came more than a decade before had all the answers。 I've read many books about what makes an "Elite" Athlete。 However, to hear it from one directly makes a lot of difference。 I have lived in Spain for a few years to understand the close-knit family ties that Spaniards exhibit, similar to India。 Nadal is a true gentleman to have played this wonderful sport and in man After watching Nadal lift the 2022 Australian Open, I was more curious as to what makes this machine keeps going and this book that came more than a decade before had all the answers。 I've read many books about what makes an "Elite" Athlete。 However, to hear it from one directly makes a lot of difference。 I have lived in Spain for a few years to understand the close-knit family ties that Spaniards exhibit, similar to India。 Nadal is a true gentleman to have played this wonderful sport and in many ways inspired me to pick up a tennis racket! 。。。more

I’m convinced I will always love books about famous tennis players。 Loved gaining more insight into Rafa’s life。 I desperately want to live his Mallorcan lifestyle。 Seeing how his family functions was fascinating。 This one won’t have the broader appeal of Agassi’s autobiography, but it is a must read for tennis lovers。

The book is fun to read but very repetitive。 It mentions in every second page that Rafa is humble, close to his family and attached to his home town in Mallorca, Spain。 It repeats these three things over and over again。 In between, a detailed description of a few important matches in his career。

Although, sometimes struggling to follow the descriptive narratives of the games, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Rafa through this book - learning about the origins of his admirable humility and grounded nature regardless of incredible professional success, his disciplined work ethic and his ability to temper his emotions at points of high stress during games。 Equally enjoyable was learning about his family and their insistence to remain equally grounded and treat Rafa as they always had i Although, sometimes struggling to follow the descriptive narratives of the games, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Rafa through this book - learning about the origins of his admirable humility and grounded nature regardless of incredible professional success, his disciplined work ethic and his ability to temper his emotions at points of high stress during games。 Equally enjoyable was learning about his family and their insistence to remain equally grounded and treat Rafa as they always had in a down to earth way long before the fame while all the time being encouraging and supportive。 A truly lovely story! 。。。more

Having only recently paid more attention to the sport of tennis, this autobiography was a great look at arguably one of the most renowned athletes to date。 Rafa's story is one that caught me off guard; he is much more relatable, humble, and unassuming than I previously conceived。 Hailing from the small island town of Manacor, Rafa's behavior and attitude seems absolutely fitting at that。 He doesn't like the limelight, and would rather spend his days isolated from society with friends and family, Having only recently paid more attention to the sport of tennis, this autobiography was a great look at arguably one of the most renowned athletes to date。 Rafa's story is one that caught me off guard; he is much more relatable, humble, and unassuming than I previously conceived。 Hailing from the small island town of Manacor, Rafa's behavior and attitude seems absolutely fitting at that。 He doesn't like the limelight, and would rather spend his days isolated from society with friends and family, getting drinks at the local bar, playing golf at the local muni, or even just lounging around at home。 It's impressive to see how unfazed he is by his success, with much of his personality and tenets centred around fighting complacency; he's the type to get up for training at 9, despite having previously stayed late out 'til 5。 Further, he brought me to see the mental aspect of the game。 I've always assumed that his success was attributed to his physical condition, and the brute that appears on the clay — yet this couldn't be farther from the truth。 Rafa makes it a great point to acknowledge his ability to deliver at the top of his physical capacity because of how steady and supportive his social circle is; he is able to grind day-in and day-out due to the stability he is assured of when he leaves the court。 Definitely an overlooked aspect of the sport, this mental side of the game seems to be what really sets him apart from the rest。 。。。more

What a wonderful look through the perspective of such a prominent champion。 A very interesting look at the competitive lives these great sportsmen live。A wonderful tribute was delivered to his great rival which played such an important part of this story。 In my opinion, not only will we struggle to identify such true champions in tennis like we have seen in Rafa and Federer, but I think we'll struggle to identify such a marvelous all-round dynamic in any sport for a very long time。I thoroughly e What a wonderful look through the perspective of such a prominent champion。 A very interesting look at the competitive lives these great sportsmen live。A wonderful tribute was delivered to his great rival which played such an important part of this story。 In my opinion, not only will we struggle to identify such true champions in tennis like we have seen in Rafa and Federer, but I think we'll struggle to identify such a marvelous all-round dynamic in any sport for a very long time。I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story。 I had tremendous respect for Rafael Nadal before reading his book, which has now increased even more so after turning the last page。Thank you for sharing this story with the world。 。。。more

As a huge Rafa fan so I loved the in-depth analysis he provided on the 2008 Wimbledon final。There are definitely no big revelations or any tea, we have heard the stories time and time again。 Overall a interesting read。 I am expecting a part 2 to come out in the next 10 years :P
